If you have been keeping up with any world news you're aware that Palestinians within the Gaza strip are suffering greatly right now. While I know it isn't much I would like to help spread awareness about this issue and show solidarity for those in Gaza, and infact the many other places experiencing any kind of termoil.

The watermelon has become a symbol for/showing support of Palestine. I'd like to do a little collab with creators on this website.

Simply

1. Draw a chibi of your sona or an oc you have with a watermelon, they could be holding,eating it,etc.

2.Send it to me as a png over newgrounds PMs

The due date will be on 1/20/2024

my advice: maybe extend out the deadline? i've noticed that a lot of collabs have plenty of room time-wise for submissions, but this only has barely a week

Hello, not particularly? I usually just transform the pieces to fit into the collage so i guess you could just do whatever is preferred

why a watermelon

@KhaosKitsune617 The watermelon actually has a rich history and is a symbol for Palestine! It started after the Six Day War when Israel took control of Gaza and the West Bank. Back then, displaying the Palestine flag was a criminal offence in those parts.

To get around this, Palestinians used the humble watermelon as it has the national colors; red, black, white and green!

If you want other ways to help spread awareness i suggest some of these!

reposting videos tackling the subject/videos from reporters in Palestine. Bisan is one of the reporters I recommend, and YourfavoriteGuy on tiktok for good coverage on the topic.

Or if you are looking to send some money, I suggest donating Esims. Since trucks/other forms of support are being stopped from entering the next best thing is esims which will help people in Gaza communicate with family or the outside world!
